Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

Instructions:

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In another bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses, and mix well.
Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined. Chill the dough for at least an hour.
Roll and Cut: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thick, and cut into gingerbread shapes using cookie cutters.
Bake: Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until firm. Let cool before decorating.
