Grandma’s Own Apple Pie Recipe
Apple pie is a timeless dessert that’s synonymous with comfort and tradition. This classic apple pie recipe is straightforward, delicious, and will fill your home with the inviting scent of cinnamon and baked apples.
Ingredients:
2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
6-8 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish, leaving some overhang.
Pour the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Trim any excess dough, then crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Brush the top crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
Let the pie cool for at least an hour before serving to allow the filling to set.
Serve your apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate dessert experience.
