Homemade Beeswax Candles

Purpose: Provide sustainable lighting for your off-grid home.

Materials:

Beeswax (in pellets or a block)
Cotton candle wicks
Heatproof glass jars or molds
Double boiler (or a heat-safe bowl over a pot)
Wooden skewers or pencils (to hold the wick)
Scissors

Steps:

Prepare the Wick:
Tie the wick to the middle of a skewer or pencil. Rest it across the top of the jar or mold, letting the wick dangle into the center.

Melt the Beeswax:
Use a double boiler to melt the beeswax slowly. Stir occasionally to ensure even melting.

Pour the Wax:
Carefully pour the melted wax into the jar or mold, holding the wick in place.
Leave some space at the top.

Let It Set:
Allow the wax to cool and harden completely (several hours).

Trim the Wick:
Cut the wick to about 1/4 inch.

Use: Beeswax candles burn cleanly and provide warm, long-lasting light.
