How to Make Cake Pops
Cake pops are a fun and delicious treat that’s perfect for parties, holidays, or just a sweet snack. They’re easy to customize with different flavors and decorations, making them a hit with both kids and adults.
Ingredients:
1 baked cake (any flavor)
1/2 cup frosting (complementary flavor)
Candy melts or chocolate for coating
Lollipop sticks
Sprinkles or other decorations
Instructions:
Crumble the Cake: Start by crumbling the baked cake into fine crumbs. You can do this by hand or with a food processor. Make sure there are no large pieces left.
Mix with Frosting: In a large bowl, combine the cake crumbs with the frosting. Start with about 1/2 cup of frosting and mix until the cake crumbs hold together when pressed. You may need to adjust the amount of frosting depending on the moisture level of the cake.
Form the Cake Balls: Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, form the mixture into balls about the size of a ping-pong ball. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
Insert the Sticks: Melt a small amount of candy melts or chocolate. Dip the end of a lollipop stick into the melted candy and insert it halfway into a cake ball. This helps the stick stay in place. Repeat with all the cake balls.
Coat the Cake Pops: Once the sticks are set, melt the remaining candy melts or chocolate. Dip each cake pop into the melted coating, gently tapping off any excess. You can use a Styrofoam block or a cake pop stand to hold the pops upright while the coating hardens.
Decorate: Before the coating sets, add sprinkles, nuts, or other decorations. You can also drizzle contrasting colors of melted candy or chocolate for a more elaborate design.
Let Set: Allow the cake pops to set completely before serving or packaging them as gifts.
Cake pops are a delightful treat that can be tailored to any occasion, from birthday parties to holiday celebrations.
